The Show

Stuntman is a new performance for anyone who has ever enjoyed a violent action movie (but felt a bit weird about it). It is an intensely physical, funny, and tender duet by two men who wrestle with their relationship to violence – both onscreen and off. Fusing the Pow! Biff! and Wallop! of over-the-top stunt fights with personal stories of real encounters with violence from the performers’ lives, Stuntman explores the relationship between violence and masculinity, and the impact this has on our perceptions of men.

Stuntman is touring Scotland from 11th September – 10th October 2020. You can find more info on the show HERE.

The show is aimed at ages 16+ and we hope to engage young people aged 16-25 in the conversations surrounding the work, through workshops, performances and post-show discussions. There will likely be between 12-18 tour dates, and we’re aiming for the majority of these to have an accompanying workshop or discussion.

We are looking for someone interested in the themes of the show and who is experienced in engaging young people in workshops and conversations about complex and challenging ideas.

The role

The role of Lead Engagement Artist includes:

  • Designing the engagement workshops and other activities depending on the specific needs of the groups we engage with and the venues.
  • Communicating with tour venues (alongside the tour producer) to identify target groups of young people (this could be schools, youth groups, youth theatres, students or something else depending on the venue) and co-ordinate workshops or other engagement with these groups
  • Lead on the delivery of the engagement activity (alongside members of the SUPERFAN team where appropriate)
  • Evaluate the engagement programme with the SUPERFAN team.

The fee for this role is £3900 (based on approximately 6 weeks’ total work at £650/week). In addition, all necessary travel/mileage costs will be covered by SUPERFAN. Any accommodation on tour will be arranged and covered by SUPERFAN and the artist will receive a daily per diem of £25 for each night they are away from home.

As the engagement programme might not always line up with the tour (some workshops may take place in advance or after the group seeing the show, for example) the engagement artist will likely be travelling independently.

As the tour includes some venues in very rural areas a driving licence is desirable for this role. Having your own car is not necessary.
